Aren’t They All the Same?

The 24/7 Fitness Club has been running an amazing offer on gym memberships. It would be $25/month with an initiation fee of $28.00. That’s not bad compare to the $80 I pay for at the New York Sports Club (NYSC) per month. So I decided to swing by their Gramercy Park location first. I went in and I ended up waltzing back out. Then I headed over to their Union Square location. It looked a little bit better from the outside. So I thought it couldn’t be that bad. I met with their membership director “B.” First thing, “B” asked me was if I already belonged to a gym. And I said yes, I belong to NYSC. She then went on to bash the NYSC during the whole tour of the facility. The gym looked really ratty and I felt like I just walked in to the ghetto compared to NYSC. “B” had emphasized that 24/7 Fitness Club was a real gym, and not a spa. At this point, I was getting really annoyed. If you’re gym is so good, then it can stand on it’s own merits without you criticizing your competition. In my opinion, I didn’t think they really took care of their equipment. Some of their machines looked like it was going to fall apart any minute. The lightingwas poor light and it was a very seedy environment. I know I would be able to work out in peace at the NYSC as oppose to getting leered at the other gym. I just don’t think I would feel safe working out at 24/7. In the end, I rather spend more money at NYSC. Well you do get what you pay for at the NYSC.
