Dumbo Art
After my NYCares project I met up with the twins to go head over to the DUMBO art festival. We had to hustle because open studio was going to be over at 6pm. Of course, we got there at the knick of time. Got to check out some stuff that we would consider art and some that would be garbage, while enjoying some wine and cheese. I really liked Aileen Leijten illustrations and her studio was pretty cool. I have to say the loft spaces were sometimes much neater than the art itself. During our trek we ended up at the DUMBA queer art collective. They had some really neat photographs but they had the weirdest exhibit. They had this piece that was called “Golden Serenity” in which they had a few people clapping to the beats of music while someone was peeing. Now that definitely something I wouldn’t consider art. But I guess that’s an age-old debate.
