Round 2

Mar 21st, 2002 by admin | 0

Today, I went on another round of interviews with two more temp agencies.

Agency # 1

I got there around 11 am. Suprisingly I was not subjected to the barrage of test. Instead, I only got tested on my MS word skills. And I was out of agency by 11:30 am.

Intermission

Since, I got out of Agency # 1 so earlier then anticipated, I called Agency # 2 to see if I can push up my 2 pm appointment.

The Call (after the usual formality)

Me: I have a 2 o’clock appointment with your agency today, I was wonder if it would be able to get an earlier appointment
Agency # 2: Sorry, we’re closed between the hours of noon-2 pm, but I can schedule in for a 3 pm appointment
Me: That’s okay, I already have a 2 pm appointment. Nevermind. Thank you.

Now, someone please explain the logic of that conversation. I’m starting to question if the receptionist even listening to me. If I’m calling for an earlier appointment, why would I want a later appointment. It’s just illogical.

In the end, I had about 2 hours to kill. So I more or less made many tread marks around the library. I was not about to spend my time out in the cold.

Agency # 2

So after two hours, I finally went to Agency # 2 for my appointment. Being the extreme of Agency # 1. I was bombarded with a battery of test including a matching credit report, filing, spelling, math and typing test. Suprisingly, I was not tested on either MS Word, Excel or Powerpoint. It was just bizarre. I was out of the office by 3:15 pm.
