The Blue Footed Booby is one of the biggest attraction on the Galapagos Islands, Ecuador. This creature is a natural comedian. You can easily be amused all day while he walks around you. He may wobble around on land, but he's an amazing fisherman. He's looks like a kamkikaze pilot when he goes diving for his prey. This particular Blue Footed Booby stands proudly displaying his aqua blue feet. Features in JPG Magazine Issue 17: Street Fashion page 86

Do The Right Thing!

Jul 25th, 2006 by admin | 1

Tonight, I headed over to the other side. Sounds a bit dark doesn’t it. I went deep into the heart of hipsterville. You heard right! I went to Williamburg, McCarren Park Pool to be exact to celebrate my friend’s birthday. We were suppose to see Spike Lee’s Do The Right Thing. Well that’s what I thought.

First, I had to stop by SettePani bakery to pick up a small cake for my friend ML. Then I made my trek over to McCarren Park Pool. Of course I don’t know where it’s located except that it’s between Driggs and Bayard. Do I look like a hipster to you. So I started walking down a few blocks and I still don’t see Drigg St. Ahoy, matey! A cab appears. And I actually considered hailing one, but of course it speeds right past me. Oh shucks! But finally I reached my destination. As I head in through the gate, the guy stops me. You can’t bring that in there. What? All I had was this miniscule box with a tiny cake. It’s my friend’s birthday I protested. It’s a just a birthday cake. Then this other guy came by and said just let her in, it’s not like it’s competeing with the other food stands. This is just ridiculous.

After gathering the rest of ML’s harem, we all stuff ourselves silly with tacos, pie, ice cream, cherries, and this strange vegan strawberry fluff. And we toast with our cups full of sangria with brandy. Brandy from the 1950s because it only cost $2.59. After food and drink we sat through the rest of the Cold Hand Collective’s set. Can I say they’re one of the worse band I’ve ever heard. But as I twiddle my thumbs the movie has not started. Their screen was not inflated until about 9:20pm. And they were still testing the projector at 9:30. I’ve had enough of this blase hipster mentality. So I left at 9:40pm, and the movie still hasn’t started. Figures the event was sponsored by L Magazine. Couldn’t they just Do The Right Thing! Quite, ironic.

Yeah. Part of the problem was that Live Nation’s stage wasn’t ready to use, so we weren’t able to use the stage or their power (which they generously offered when it’s ready). But alas! The film went off without a hitch at 9:45, and finished on time before midnight. Come check out Bottle Rocket next week, when we’ll have the stage set and the correct power source.
