Wake Up Call

So as you already know, I’ve been having problems sleeping. Last night, I took a sleeping pill to try to get my sleeping schedule back to normal. I felt so bad, because I almost fell asleep during a phone conversation with a friend from Cali.

    My original itinerary was to:

  • Get up at 6 AM Go to library to pick up reserved VHS and DVDs
  • Work out Run an errand to Shop Rite for my mum
  • Donate some clothes and miscellaneous items to the Salvation Army Bake some scones

Anyway, I didn’t get up at 6 AM. I was still feeling drowsy. At about 8 AM, my mum came into my room and pointed out the fact, I wasn’t up at 6 AM. Then at about 9 AM , she bursted into my room inquiring about where her pliers were. I said I don’t know. I haven’t use them recently. You see, my mum is the handy woman in this house.
At this point, I realized I wasn’t going to get any more sleep this morning. After consuming the Chinese style pancakes my mum made me this morning, I started going through the rest of my itinerary.

Meals on Heels

Today, I went on my first volunteer project with NY Cares, Meals on Heels at the Presbyterian church. We more or less deliver meals to seniors. Fortunately, I had some new friends who had accompany me in this task. It was pretty cool. I noticed that you tend to form a clique with the people you first meet at the event. All in all, it was a neat event. Though I thought I would actually be doing more work then I did.

The Outside World

So after 5 days, of being cooped up in my house. I decided it was time to venture outside. And this is all I can say. Burr.. It was damn cold out there. Now I know why I rather choose my nice fluffy blanket and bury myself under my pillows. Most of the water in the street have become think layer of ice. Let it snow.. let it snow.. let it snow. No such luck. Okay. You got me. I finally left my house, because my library books were due. I know. That’s so lame. But guess what, it’s so true.

So Much Data

So I started a temp job this week at a non profit organization. I am left to the mundane task of data entry. It’s so boring. But it’s time to get back to the real world, make some money, and pay some bills. Speaking of the real world, I’ve been having problems getting up in the morning. And I know ever since I started temping I haven’t been online that much. I guess that should be a good thing. The great thing about being unemployed was that I was actually getting some sleep

Before I get side tracked. Let me get back to the place I’m temping at. I’m afraid to go near the bathroom there. It’s not because it’s dirty. It’s just every time I try to touch the door knob, I get a shock. Yeah, it’s that time of year, all those damn electrons floating in the air.

Clockwatcher

So I got up at 7 am this morning. I know. I haven’t been up that early for well over a year. Anyway, I was up waiting for a phone call from one of my temp agency. And I got a call from another for a temp assignment this morning. More or less, I’m a receptionist for a day. Can’t complain. I need to work, and I get paid for just answering the phone and surfing the net. I guess that’s what I’ll probably be doing if I was at home. Hmm… Maybe I should go to the gym after work. Doh! I brought everything but my sneakers. Crap! It feel so strange to be back in the real world, but in a strange way it’s kind of refreshing. Right now, it’s extremely slow and very quiet out in the reception area. The good thing is no one is here to bother me. So I better get back to my clockwatching. Tick tock.. tick tock… Tick tock. When is this day going to be over? Hmm.. maybe I’ll go to the gym afterwards. Doh! Forgot my sneakers at home. Crap!

Womyn vs. Machine

I think I’ve always have a love/hate relationship with my computer. Truthfully, I think it just has a mind of it’s own and it’s very tempermental. Unfortunately, It is almost impossible for me to live without my computer. A friend of mine, actually try to ween me off computer for 6 months. And let me tell you that was such an interesting experience. I spent more time reading and sleeping. Well a lot more reading then I do now.

So what is my new computer up to right now. It’s being extremely tempermental. The fan isn’t functioning properly and it overheats in a hour. So I guess you can say I’m not a very happy camper.

The Ballots are In

So yesterday, I performed my civic duty by casting my vote in the mayoral elections. Well anyway, I was behind the curtain casting my vote when I was scared out of my wits. One of the pollsters didn’t realize that I was still in the booth and was about to make sure everything was set for the next voter. Of course, I jumped sky high. Dude! I’m trying to cast my secret ballot. It’s all good. Our new mayor is Mike Bloomberg. I think Mark Green screwed himself with the negative campaigning. I don’t think NY really needed that in a time like this.

Out of Commision

Finito! Kaboom! Totally out of commision. Okay, what the hell am I talking about. I’m talking about my love/hate relationship with my computer. It seems everytime that I go away something goes wrong with my computer. Well guess what? It’s completely dead. Every time I try to turn it on, it beeps at me like siren. Basically my memory is bad and I bet you my C drive kaput. *Grumble* That explains why I haven’t been online lately. So how am I online right now. I’m at my cousin’s pounding aways on his keyboard ranting about my computer. *Grumbles*

Till next time. I don’t know when that will be.

The Royal Palaces

Yesterday, I went to Hampton Court with Kat and Dean. It was pretty cool. The strange thing was that the admission fee cost more then my rail ticket. I found that a bit amusing. We more or less wander the grounds and took some pretty pictures with wabbit. And round and round we went in the maze. The most amazing thing was the great vine, which is even older then the United States. Dean took us back into London in his TVR. We were able to fit both Kat and me in one seat. It was very reminiscent of the time 8 of us crammed into Michelle’s Altima. Yup! Back in the good old college days.

So today, I headed over to Windsor Castle. It was the first sight that I’ve visited that I had to walk through a metal detector. But then again, it is the queen’s residence. I had no idea how big it was. I went to see Queen Mary’s doll collection, and I have to say the detail was just amazing on her doll house. After I got done with Windsor castle, I was going to head over to check out Eton College. But it so dark and dreary. And it was weird seeing the seas of penguins passing by (that’s how the Eton school uniforms look like). Instead, I headed back home to drop off some stuff and to make a batch of brownies before I left to meet up with PW. We’re going for oysters tonight. Yum ..yum.

Up and Down

That’s all I did today. At the library and at Kmart, of all places.

Scene 1: Library

I was on the 2nd floor of the library, attempting to make copies of some reference material. I needed to break a ten to add some money to my copy card. I needed to go down to the courtesy desk on ground floor to get change. So down I went, and up again. As I inserted my card in to add money, the machine jammed. Just my luck! I signal to the librarian, that I’m having problems with the copy card machine. He directs me to another librarian, who tells me that I have to go downstairs to the courtesy desk to fix the problem. I go downstairs, and the lady tells me there is nothing I can do about. And that we can send it to vendor, but that’s about it. I’m just going to have to get a new copy card. A new copy card cost 30 cents. And I refuse to get a new one out of principle. Supposely, if you a copy card, your it’s 15 cents a copy, as oppose to 20 cents without a copy card. I know it’s not a dramatic difference in price. But truthfully, every penny counts.

Scene 2: Kmart

The saga continues. I had to lug my ass to Kmart to get some cell batteries for my new travel clock. Which I had incidentally purchased at another Kmart in the city earlier last week. I headed down to the electronic section, and inquired where I would be able to locate cell batteries. The salesman, gave me a baffled look, and sent me upstairs to the jewelery department where the clocks are sold. At least I got to go up on the escalator as oppose to the stairs. When I got to the jewelery department, I asked the sales lady where I might be able to find the batteries for the clock. She told me that I should go down to the electronic department. At this point, I wasn’t going to have any of this running up and down the escalator. So informed her that I just came from the electronic department. She called down to electronics, there were no batteries avaliable. Grumble. I wish they told me that in the first place, then I wouldn’t have need to go upstairs to ask the same question. Eventually I ended up getting the batteries at a local five and dime store around my neighborhood.
