Tennis Junkie

Tennis is a sport that comes and goes for me. In terms, that my interest is always waning. Last night, I stay up past midnight watching the 2 US Open Women’s Quarterfinals. It was pretty intense. More or less they were 2-1/2 hour slugfest. Man, was it intense.

This morning I found myself running the IBM On Demand Live Scoreboard and listening to the games on usopen.org. Right now, the Davenport match is on. I am patiently waiting for the Agassi/Blake match like everyone else. I’m so torn about who to root for. But I think it’s going to be Blake.

Back to my addiction.

Game, Set, Match

I’m actually out in my living room watching the the Sharapova/Petrova match. Pretty intense with lots of shrieking. I can’t wait to see the Agassi/Blake match tomorrow. I think I’ll have a problem in regards to who to root for.

The Whomping Willow Strikes Again!

It was so nice out today, so I headed over to Prospect Park to fly my new Chinese goldfish kite. It was to make it’s maiden voyage. There wasn’t much wind so it took me about 30 minutes before I got it. It went to about 1000 yards. Then it happened. My spool fell out of my hand. You see me chasing my spool. Then it flew into a small street. And my spool was caught.

So what is a girl to do. Hmm.. Call the parks department. But I don’t know the number. I called 311 the non-emergency city line, to get the parks the department phone number. The guy scoffed at me because I wanted to call them to get my kite out. Dude, there is no reason to be judgmental, I’m just asking for the phone number to a government agency. But at last, I find out the parks department is closed on the weekends. Figures.

So I’m at the point of just giving up on my poor little kite. Then the spool shakes free from the little tree to run into a bigger tree. So if you see a goldfish kite in Prospect Park, it’s probably mine. At least it didn’t suffer the same fate as my psychedelic butterfly kite which is resting it’s soul on the other whomping willow. Goldie is just enjoying the wind.

Scrabbilicious Time

I had my weekly Scrabble game today. Darn it, I spent most of the game waiting for the letter Y. And of course, I get the Letter Q, J, Z, and X. The Q is such a hard letter to get rid of. I was just missing the letter Y, to spell QUERY. While spending the other half of the game waiting to spell LAZY. Well at least I got that with the Z on a double letter score. And let me just say, the acceptable two letter list is definitely worth memorizing. It got me out of a lot of jams during the game.

Confessions of an Online Junkie

I got home from my friend’s rooftop BBQ to find out that my internet connection was down. I spent the past 2 hours trying to figure out how to get back online. I need my internet. More importantly, my broadband. I need to get my next online fix. But again I’m denied. Of course, I had to wait a good 2 hours before it was back up.

Well in the meantime I was counting how many paper cranes I folded. What shall I do without my internet.

Awaken

I was so tired, that I didn’t get up to pick up the phone when it rang. The machine picked up. And it was the weirdest thing because I didn’t know who was calling. You couldn’t help to listen to a brief second of the conversation because you’re wondering who the hell is calling you. Then you try to hang up, but you can’t disconnect the line. I’ve been pocket dialed. It seems to happen a lot when your name is towards the end of the alphabet. The people with “A” names understand my pains. So when I finally disconnected the phone, I immediately *69 the call. You would too. *drum roll* I don’t recognize this number. Time to do some reasearch. In the end, it turned out to be my cousin’s brother-in-law. In true family tradition, I had to bust him on it. That’s what family is for. Ha ha.

We Shall Fly Again

So the last time I went on my kite excursion, my kite got caught on a building twice ended in being taken by the whomping willow of Prospect Park. I tried to get replacement spars for my other kites. But after many weeks of searching. I just gave up and decided to purchase another kite. Let’s see, maybe I should also add a swivel, and nylon bag. Oh what fun. Okay, no more shopping for me.

Up, up and away

My psychedelic kite took it’s first and last trip today. I went out with my friend C. to Prospect Park to take my kite out for a flight. There was a little wind here and there. And we landed ourself on the hill with the infamous Jamaician kite fliers. They usually have the handmade kites which they make out of fedex paks. It’s pretty cool. They’re really nice to anyone that likes to fly kites. Except my kite line tangled with theirs a few times. And I got excommunicated to the center of the park. As the butterfly was floating up, C. wanted me to let out 1000 yard of kite line. Of course, I had no idea how much kite line that would be until I found my poor butterfly stuck on a building. Yes, you heard right. It got pretty far up. Then the Jamaician kite flier got my kite out of the building but it turned out my line was stuck in a tree. Some french guy try to help me by dropping my kite down between the two trees. Then he said go get the kite. And me being the cynical New Yorker was thinking hell no. You’re going to try to fly my kite or walk off with it. Frankly, my hoop winder cost just as much as the kite.

Eventually I got my hooper winder back. The Whomping Willow ate my kite. Now the butterfly is to enjoy the endless sun and rain on top of the tree.

Times Up

Got off the train today, and looked at my watch. What watch? Accidentally left it at home.

I FEEL SO NAKED.

Trust me I’m going to be looking at my wrist every 10 seconds.
