Spring in the Air

It must be Spring in the Air. I walked into Borders and bumped in a college classmate. Went to pick up a copy of Business week. And had the oddest feeling that the woman in front of me was trying to pick up this old professor looking guy. They both had a copy
Luckiest Man : The Life and Death of Lou Gehrig. Supposely, she runs an association. It was like I walked into the Twilight Zone. She went to pay for her book, and her cashier was the extremely peppy and hyper. She made Gidget seem depressing. And the lady gave the cashier a look like hurry up because I have to try to pick up this guy before he leaves. It was pretty funny.

Unfortunately, I also ended up with the same cashier. This lady needs to lay off the sugar. I’ve must have become quite a cynic because even I was annoyed by her.

Up, up and away

A few days ago, I had called Go Fly a Kite to purchase the missing sticks for my Monarch Butterfly kite. By the way, I only got it up in the air about twice year. The guy said that he was going to send me replacement sticks. Well I got a package from them today and there was definitely no sticks. But I got a new kite. A new 48″ butterfly kite. Who said bigger isn’t better.

Pile ‘Ol Music

Going through my library of music, and trying to compile the playlist for my anthem for this year. Just hacking aways. But everything is all sappy. I guess it’s all those darn chick bans in my collection. Ha ha. Shall be an interesting project to conquer. Well got to get back to the music.

Let It Fly

Wow.. It such a great feeling after I finally got my kite up on my third attempt. What a spectacular sight. That’s all I can say. Chilled with the other kite flyers on the hill. I had my store bought kite. While these kite guys were flying their hand made kites that they made from Fedex tencel packs. It was pretty neat. The guy showed me how you added this thing so that his kite would make noises. Okay, I can be very easily amused.

Life and the Pursuit of Happiness

A friend of mine asked me a simple question the other day. What makes you happy? I couldn’t answer it. But I found myself paralyzed by this question. I did not have an instantaneous response. So I wonder to myself, is happiness something I fear because there has been so much sadness in my life. What truly makes me happy is my friends and family. The ability to just go up to them and give them a hug. To feel that I am not alone in this world. And that friends and family are there to share the world with me.

Only in New York, Baby

While I was walking past, I saw Billy Bush filming for Access Hollywood. He looks a lot shorter in person. As I walked past Christies, this couple that walked by said “Oh, that looks like Billy Bush. Let’s spit on him.” Only in New York, Baby. Guess that’s the star treatment for celebrities in NY. Ha ha.

On The Street

I always run past the strangest things early in the morning. Today, I was heading over to meet the some people from NY Cares down on St. Marks Street. While walking down the street, I saw this woman sashay past me. At first, I was thinking she was crazy, because it was freezing cold outside and all she was wearing was a long sleeve t-shirt, a pair of jeans, and sneakers. Definitely an obvious hooker. She looked more like a strung out drug addict looking for some smack. Perhaps she was. After she walked past me, she sashayed down the empty street, then tracked back swinging her hips side to side. She had stopped abruptly in front of this car, perched down and knocked on this guy’s car window. And all I did was smirk.

Row, row, row your Boat

This morning, I was rushing to get to my NY Cares project with Row New York. It was my first project in 2 years. I know, I’ve been slacking. We went to the Flushing boathouse to clean and put a fresh coat of paint before the new season. Our project leader Tina drives an orange SUV. And on our way to the boathouse, Brad this 6 foot tall got into the trunk of the SUV. He looked like he was squished into the trunk, but he volunteered to go in. Would have made a funny picture if I had my camera. In the car, I was in Melissa sat in the trunk and she made faces at everyone that drove by. Perhaps, that’s why this guy cut us off, got out of his car and gave us the finger. Talk about road rage. He definitely needed to take an anger management class. It was a lot of fun and met some pretty interesting people. I have another project in 2 weeks with my friend JC. *smile

Rip.. rip.. Rip

That’s the only sound you’re going to hear from me. I’m ripping all my CDs to MP3 so I can play them on my iPod and eventually retire my good old discman. But can I say it’s taking forever. Makes you feel like ripping your hair out. Okay, that wouldn’t be a pretty sight. Grr… Argh.. Grumble. I guess I’ll be the happy camper in the end. La de da

Books and more Books

Ack! I did it again, I walked into Strand bookstore voluntarily. I wanted to get the new Anne Rice book Blood Canticle. At first, I was not able to find a copy in the reviewers section. This poor Strand employee felt sorry for me, and ran to the find a copy. Woo hoo!

The funny thing, is that went I was heading over to Strands with my friend JC had asked me if I read any of the books I bought the last time I went to Strands. All I was able to do was avoid eye contact and mumbled NO! Those books are still sitting in pile on my floor. I’m so bad.
