All Rained Out

This is such a bummer. It’s been raining all week but this is the time they’ve cancelled Jazzfest. And all the acts are today. Bet you it’s going to be nice and sunny tomorrow when it’s time to leave. I wanted to see Harry Connick Jr. live. Bah! All this rain must stop now!

Crawfish Heaven

Today, we headed over the 22 mile bridge to Mandeville for my first Crawfish bowl. And it was raining cats and dogs. Definitely, a day I would stay home if I was back in New York. So let’s get back to food. So they take this humongous pot and fill it up with over 50 pound of crawfish, with mushrooms, artichoke, sausage and potatos. Yummmm.. Then after they’re done cooking they lay out this massive table with newspaper and pour all everything all across the table. Oh my god, that’s a lot of crawfish. Then the crawfish feast begins. After we’re done, they have enough crawfish left over for the week.

NOLA

So, my long anticipated vacation has arrived. Woke up 4:30 this morning, to catch my 7 am flight to New Orleans. It’s so warm down here. Our first stop, was Jazzfest. Woo hoo! Can I say beer is really cheap down here. There were a bunch of kids trying to make a quick buck, selling beer on the street along the way to Jazzfest. Kind of remind me of the kids selling M & Ms on the train. My god, there is so much food here. I can’t decide what to eat. Hmm.. I will start off with the Oyster.. then a cajun boudin.. oohhh.. Of course, I must also have my mango freeze. There goes Cafe Du Monde. Must get my beignet and cafe au lait. Okay, my stomach is dragging me in all directions right now. Yummy.

You haven’t been in New Orleans until you walk down Bourbon Street. You’re usual tourist trap. But what a trip it was. We met up with a few friends at

Pat O’Brien’s the home of the Hurricane. Which I must admit drink is really weak. Probably watered down. Dave gave me my first strand of beads. Then I stole one off of Maurice and another strand off of Dave again. This is fun. Now, I want more beads, but I don’t want to earn them. tee hee. Ask we walked down Bourbon street, people were throwing beads from the balcony. Caught another one. tee hee. A few people propositioned me, but I politely said no. The we got to the
Bourbon Street Blues where there was some cover band playing. Let’s just say they couldn’t sing, and was just loud. But no one cared because most people in the bar were inebriated. Onward we go. As we get outside, there is this girl that keeps flashing people. All she had was a nice rack, probably from a recent operation. But her face was so busted, it looked like it was processed in the blender. Oh wells.

The Infamous Call

I just can’t sleep. I’ve been up since 4:30 this morning. Bah! So I decided to read one of my daily blogs. And I ran across an article about The Infamous Call. All I have to say is WTF! I agree with Jen, that people should call when they’re interested. But then I also understand the Swinger effect. I did have one guy call me literally 10 times within 2 hour period while I was at work. Thank god, I was able to turn my cell phone off. So what’s the big deal with the call. Oh wells! Just thought I would toss that out there as a conversation piece.

ChiTown

So finally arrived in Chicago yesterday with a few minor hiccups. Orbitz called me at 7 am to tell me that my flight is cancelled. Yikes! All I can say is that I need to get to Chicago now. So they booked me on an earlier flight. The funny thing, is that my flight left the time as my other flight. Crazy. But what do you expect, you’re always get stuck in the que in LaGuardia.

Damn Neighbors

I was woken up at 5:30 this morning, not by my alarm clock. But by my neighbors blasting out this salsa music. Geez Louise! Don’t they know people need to sleep. They need to be shot immediately. Pronto, man. I mean this figuratively of course. Hmm… but at 5:30 am they should be killed. Crazy people.

Only in New York, Baby

While I was walking past, I saw Billy Bush filming for Access Hollywood. He looks a lot shorter in person. As I walked past Christies, this couple that walked by said “Oh, that looks like Billy Bush. Let’s spit on him.” Only in New York, Baby. Guess that’s the star treatment for celebrities in NY. Ha ha.

Happy Camper

I’m such a good mood right now. Maybe it’s because I had a Jama-licious day. Stopped by Jamba Juice to get a Cranberry Craze with an energy boost. Since then I’ve been happy happy.. happy. And saw my friend who gave me a great big hug.

Super Saturday

My friend is in town from Cali. And you know what that means. It’s going to be a dessert run and shopping!!!! Okay, I’m being silly. But nothing comes between me and my desserts. *Evil Grin*

I can’t believe my friend convinced me to go to a sample sale at 9 am. The doors had opened at 8 am at the Billion Dollar Babes sample sale. It wasn’t that bad. There was absolutely no line which really surprised me. But that might have had to do with the fact you had to RSVP for the event. Then after the billion dollar babes event we headed over to the Elie Tahari sample sale. Nada. Off to girlshop we went in which I ended up getting a III Parcel Photo Album for 8 bucks. Score!

Now I’m completely famished. Time for dessert. *Smile* We headed uptown to Beard Papa to get our cream puff. CREAM PUFF. Ahh.. I’m in such a trance now. Yummy, that’s all I can say. Off we go to the next destination Chikalicous. Man, we have to wait. I want my dessert NOW…. But I have to say it was definitely worth the wait. You must try the Brown Sugar Panna Cotta with the wine pairing of course. It is to die for. And it’s kind of neat you can watch them prepare the dessert at the bar. A definite must if you’re in NY.

Knitting with hands

Before we headed over to Chikalicious we made a brief stop over to Knit NY and I saw the most amazing thing. There was a girl knitting with her hands. It was so cool. I wanted to ask her how she did it, but I was just amazed. By far one of the neatest things I have seen someone do. Knit .. knit.. knit…
