Trapped

Let me out!

I got out of work around 8 tonight. And it was insane. Why? I walked down to the 31st floor because there was a higher probability of catching an elevator. Instead, the elevator was not coming. I even press the button for the service elevator. Nada. Zilch. No elevator. Help! I’m trapped.

I manage to tackle down the cleaning lady to get the phone number for the front desk. It turned out that they were servicing all 4 elevators. And there was no way out.

I was trapped. Thank god they finally send an elevator up for me.

Seriously, they should inform building tenants if they are going to be fixing stuff. There might actually be someone in the office.

Phew!

Price is Right

Yesterday, I stopped by at one of my regular sample sale haunts in the garment district. And they were closed at 7pm. They were having a Free People sale. So who is Free People. It’s a clothing line that is carried by Urban Outfitters. Fortunately, I was not alone in my woes. This girl was knocking on the door to get in while I was heading up the stairs. And we exchanged a few words. She had inquire if I worked in fashion too. Which is something from my distant past. We both expressed that after working in fashion, and understanding the huge mark up on clothing that there was really no need to pay full price. It was more like we would refuse to pay full price ever again.

In the end, I caved in and went back to the sale this afternoon. And I ended up waltzing out with 5 new pieces to wardrobe.

Spring in the Air

It must be Spring in the Air. I walked into Borders and bumped in a college classmate. Went to pick up a copy of Business week. And had the oddest feeling that the woman in front of me was trying to pick up this old professor looking guy. They both had a copy
Luckiest Man : The Life and Death of Lou Gehrig. Supposely, she runs an association. It was like I walked into the Twilight Zone. She went to pay for her book, and her cashier was the extremely peppy and hyper. She made Gidget seem depressing. And the lady gave the cashier a look like hurry up because I have to try to pick up this guy before he leaves. It was pretty funny.

Unfortunately, I also ended up with the same cashier. This lady needs to lay off the sugar. I’ve must have become quite a cynic because even I was annoyed by her.

Up, up and away

A few days ago, I had called Go Fly a Kite to purchase the missing sticks for my Monarch Butterfly kite. By the way, I only got it up in the air about twice year. The guy said that he was going to send me replacement sticks. Well I got a package from them today and there was definitely no sticks. But I got a new kite. A new 48″ butterfly kite. Who said bigger isn’t better.
