Into the Alley

Just got back from my little adventure in the LES. My friend convinced me to find a restaurant/bar Freeman’s in Freeman Alley. But where the hell is Freeman Alley. It’s not even on a map. All we know is it’s on Rivington near Bowery. We finally stumbled upon Freeman Alley which is by the way in the middle of Bowery and Chrystie Street. The alley reminded me of some small side streets in London and San Francisco. But we walk down this alley and you see this low light. Kind of like gaslight. And low and behold your at Freeman’s. I felt like I just walked out of a time machine and was transported into another time peroid. This is what people must have felt when they walked into a speakeasy for the first time. It was amazing. What a great little find. And that was not the only thing I found that night. While we were walking down the street I spotted a 20 dollar bill a few feet away. Must be my lucky night.

Shopping Expedition

I must stop shopping. But there have been so many sample sales in the past 3 weeks. I’ve been pretty good. As they say in NY, why should you pay full price when you can just get it at a sample sale. *Smile* You just need to know where to look.

I got this cute little cocktail dress at the Carmen Marc Valvo for a 100 dollars.

Then I went to the Delman sample shoe sale. And I had shoe blinders on me. By the time I got out of the sale, I realized how much money I spent on shoes. I had to have these satin ballet slippers, with these criss cross in the middle. They were so cute. I know everything is cute.

Up, up and away

My psychedelic kite took it’s first and last trip today. I went out with my friend C. to Prospect Park to take my kite out for a flight. There was a little wind here and there. And we landed ourself on the hill with the infamous Jamaician kite fliers. They usually have the handmade kites which they make out of fedex paks. It’s pretty cool. They’re really nice to anyone that likes to fly kites. Except my kite line tangled with theirs a few times. And I got excommunicated to the center of the park. As the butterfly was floating up, C. wanted me to let out 1000 yard of kite line. Of course, I had no idea how much kite line that would be until I found my poor butterfly stuck on a building. Yes, you heard right. It got pretty far up. Then the Jamaician kite flier got my kite out of the building but it turned out my line was stuck in a tree. Some french guy try to help me by dropping my kite down between the two trees. Then he said go get the kite. And me being the cynical New Yorker was thinking hell no. You’re going to try to fly my kite or walk off with it. Frankly, my hoop winder cost just as much as the kite.

Eventually I got my hooper winder back. The Whomping Willow ate my kite. Now the butterfly is to enjoy the endless sun and rain on top of the tree.

What a Sale

Oooh.. it’s sample sale season. And it’s going to be the death of me. It all kicked off this Saturday when I went to the Billion Dollar Babes’ sample sale. And I walked out of there with nothing except money in my pocket.

Then on Monday, I get my sample sale emails. Time to plan. So I whipped out my fingers and start typing everything out in a spreadsheet. Isn’t that so geeky. But we got to be organized ladies. You have to figure out how you’re going to optimize your time. If you’re lucky, you can hit a few at a time. A plan of attack. You don’t mess with women and sample sales. Especially, little old ladies. They’re vicious. I actually had one shove me at a shoe sale.

Today I went to the Susana Monaco sale. And it rocked. I really like her stuff. I ended up getting a printed dress and skirt. They’re so cute. Hey, if you live in NY there really is no reason to pay full price.

Subway Etiquette

Some people just don’t have proper manners when it comes to the subway. Especially during rush hour and the mad dash for seats. And the elderly are the worse. Not any elderly person. You know what I mean. The ones that have their orthopedic sneakers on who are ready and willing to push you aside for seat. I had encounter one such woman this morning. But seriously, she needed to take a chill pill because there were tons of seats left. Patients is a virtue I guess.

Times Up

Got off the train today, and looked at my watch. What watch? Accidentally left it at home.

I FEEL SO NAKED.

Trust me I’m going to be looking at my wrist every 10 seconds.

Food Network

I’m so addicted to the Food Network. Please check me in immediately.

Unwrapped should stick to their snack foods and candy. As for Good Eats, Alton Brown rocks. Especially the fact he explains the importance of each ingredient. As for Iron Chef. Need I say more. Unfortunately, since it’s the last show I see before I go to sleep, I’m always hungry.
