Social Networking Thing

I’ve tried Friendster, Myspace and Orkut. I’m sure there are a few others but I don’t remember. I used to check orkut because of the communities. And I’ve definitely gotten very lazy about loggin into orkut. I must admit as much as Myspace is gaining momentum in the social networking space. Everyone is still on Friendster. Very mind boggling how small this world is and how we’re all connected.

Productive Pottery

Sometimes I really think I have no life. No really. I spent Friday night, Saturday and Sunday at the pottery studio. I should just hand over my paycheck for firing fees. In two days, I have already made a total of 10 pieces. Also got 5 pieces out of the bisque firing. They’re sitting on shelf as the wax cures. So why do I put wax on the bottom of my pieces. It’s so that the glaze will not stick to it when I put the glaze on. I guess there is no wet work for a while. I think my other pieces will be ready to be trimmed during glass. And I’m going to try to learn how to make a handle for my cup. Busy, busy, busy. Now I just need to be able to throw thinner pieces. I move quickly before the beginners start saving pieces. I must be able to hold onto the shelf territory I have marked since the beginning of the session. Ha ha.. All mine.

Pretty Pottery

There is this gal in pottery class that is just way too pretty. I don’t mean pretty in terms of how she looks aesthetically. In which she does fair well in that department. But it’s more that she’s not dressed properly for pottery. It’s a craft that is all about getting dirty. She came in today in a button up shirt with a flowery apron and cup with her name on it. Come on. Can you imagine the beavers mom in her 1950s pleated dress throwing a bowl. Seriously.

Whispering wind

There was no whispering wind out there last night. After departing the pottery studio I ran some errands and went out dinner with my friend EH. We headed over to the Chip Shop in Park Slope. Bad idea. It was a good 10 block walk which isn’t that bad in normal sunny weather. But we didn’t think we had to battle the wind and the rain. My umbrella is totally toasted. It’s been flipped over and dragged. Very reminiscent of the whirling wind around the quads on my old college campus. We survived the wind’s whiplash and was seated for our fish and chips. It wasn’t that warm in the restaurant but the food was pretty average. And we couldn’t bare to go back out into the wind. At first it was okay with the wind against us. Of course, it started raining harder. So we ducked into Commerce Bank. And quivering at the thought of going back out in the cold. So into the woods we go, okay just the streets. As we started marching down the street to be met with hail. Only 3 more blocks to Keyfood. I must find those soy nuts. My co-worker got me hooked. Onward, we go. We get into Keyfood, and let’s say it was warmer in there then it was at Chipshop and Commerce Bank combined. Up and down the aisles I go and there was no freaking soy nuts. I’m literally grumbling on my way up and down the aisles. I’m just glad I’m finally out of the wind. I really don’t know if I want to venture out into the wind. I might get swept off my feet.

Mission Impossible

K is in town for the holiday from London. And she needs to locate a pair of Converse Chuck Taylor X-Hi in camoflague print. So of course, I ran up and down Broadway and through timbuktu. And also cobbler row to no avail. I did find them at Dirty Jane Sloppy Joe on Broadway. But they didn’t have a UK 5. Bummer. I can’t even find it online.
