No Frills in K-Town

I been in dire need of a little spa thing. I’ve always walked by the spas in K-Town a little bit weary of the low prices. But it’s quite affordable. Normally, I probably go to one of those frilly spas in Chelsea. In the name of economics I thought I give the K-Town spa a try. It was definitely as I expect and much more. It was really no frills. Of course, while I was waiting in the hot tub for my body scrub there were 3 women on tables getting scrubbed down. This mother-daughter were yakking away in Mandarin. And it was quite humorous. At some point I wish they would just shut up. Wonder if her mom knows that the patch on her back is Ortho-Evra. Probably not. But I couldn’t help chuckling.

Since the 3 tables were occupied I lucked out and ended up in a private room. As i was looking up at the fluroscent light and being scrubbed down, I was wondering if this is what it be like when they embalm me. I know that’s a bit morbid. But you start to wonder. It is the same tables in a funeral home except there more padding. Well I guess that’s what you get for no frills.

That Dirty Little Word

A few people have called me a hipster.  I think not.  It’s such a dirty little word.  Even the boy called me that. WTF.  Why I ask do you call me a hipster.  And he had pointed out my Triple 5 Soul shirt, PUMA sneakers and the Brooklyn Industry bag I was holding.  What!  I think not.  So last night, I had dinner with a dinner club I’m part of.  And I promptly, asked my friend ML if I was a hipster.  ML is one my friends who is a self proclaimed king of hipster. And he’s damn proud of it.  He indicated that it’s probably my glasses in that they’re a bit trendy.  They are Alain Mikli frames.  Is there something wrong in having some fashion sense.  Truthfully, I’m more of a yuppie.  In end we coined the phrase yupster.  Whatever that is.  I’m all confused now.

Small World

I had an event this morning.  And while chatting with one of our guest, I discovered that he is friend’s with my pottery teacher.  That’s so funny and completely random.  He said he has few of her pieces.  Interestingly my pottery teacher makes most of her money on her website.  Talk about 2 degrees of pottery.

Cut the Wire!

This is all the toture I can take.  I’ve been throughly tested.  Get your mind out of the gutter.  You know who  you are.  On a more serious note.  I’m way to wired.  In the past month I’ve had to live without my tunes for a week.  Translation: send iPod to Apple to be fixed.  Cut off online.  Which means dropped off my iBook at Tekserve.  Oh that was pure torment.  Life without my baby.  All because my Superdrive said I will l spat out any cd or dvd you decide to insert into my system.  Bah!  Then today, I had to drop off my mobile because I had a faulty handset.  Why, you may ask?  Because it doesn’t show me the lovely pics of my friends when they call.  Especially my cousin with his big ass knife and corn beef.  So I shall pick up my unit tomorrow.  At least I will only be parted from my cell phone for a day.  Not like anyone calls me anyway.

Flashback Fashion

Believe it or not, there some fashion trends that should definitely not be recreated. And that is the 80s. Enough of the leg warmers, the big buckle bling bling belts, leg warmers and so forth. But for god sakes the hair. There just something wrong with the 80s hair. And do not bring back the mullet. Well I think I’m going to crawl under my bed and hide.  Talk about a fashion fiasco of this era.

Gift Cards Galore

Every year, my friends give me a gift card for my birthday. I get at least one Barnes and Noble. And it takes forever for me to decide on what to get. I would say it’s one of the worse things to do to me. Finally I cashed out on my Barnes and Noble’s gift card this week. Then I headed over to Century 21 in Brooklyn. It is the best kept secret. The one in Manhattan is usually swarming with tourist and the Brits. And it has already been throughly combed through. I like to go to the one in Brooklyn. Everything is nicely placed on the racks. They even added drapes in the fitting room. So strange. In the end I walked out with several items from Marc Jacobs and cashed out all my gift cards. Phew!

Strolling Status

It’s that time again.  In a few month or so, plenty woman will be strolling down the East Side with their gigantic Bugaboo Strollers.  But have you it just occur to me that you can determine a person’s social standing just by their stroller.  It’s really weird.  But it totally makes sense.  Society is not about race but about socio-economic status.  I was pondering this while in the duration of my commute.  Gals have gotten on the train with Graco, MacLaren and the Bugaboo.  I must say the Bugaboo is the SUV amongst strollers. Looks like you would be in pain if you got railed in the leg with one of those big tires.  But there is a point when this is too much.  Of course, the Graco is at the bottom of the totem pole.  Can we blame someone just because that’s all they can afford. And then there is the MacLaren stroller stuck in the middle for the folks who don’t want to shell out $700 bucks for a Bugaboo. That’s 2 pairs of Jimmy Choos for you.  All in all, this is way too insane.

Scavenging Remote

I lost my remote about 2 months ago. And I’ve been scavenging around my room looking for it.  Of course, to no avail.  I thought it might have been under my bed or toss around somewhere in my room.   But you always find something when you’re not looking for it. While I went to get more yarn to add to this scarf I’m making, I found my remote all cozy amongst a bundle of yarn.  Figures!
